Behavox buys Apiax to add cross-border compliance rules

8 October 2026: Behavox, the London compliance and surveillance vendor, has acquired Apiax, a Zurich regtech company that turns financial regulation into machine-readable rules. The deal has closed, and the companies have not disclosed its terms.

Apiax was founded in 2017 and builds embedded compliance software that runs inside a firm's own systems. Its rules cover more than 200 jurisdictions and deal with cross-border selling, content compliance and similar checks applied at the moment staff act. The company brings engineering and regulatory teams in Switzerland, Germany, Portugal and the UK.

Behavox says Apiax fits next to Pathfinder, its regulatory change management product. In the combined picture, Pathfinder spots a change in the rules, Apiax converts it into a rule applied at the point of business, and Behavox's surveillance and archive products monitor what happens and keep the record on one evidence trail.

Three executives explained the logic. Philip Schoch, co-founder and chief executive of Apiax, said the product "was built to embed compliance where the work happens." Kiryl Trembovolski, Behavox's co-founder and chief operating officer, called Apiax "the interpretation layer that turns regulation into action at the point of business." Nabeel Ebrahim, its chief revenue officer, said the purchase moves Behavox closer to being the single platform customers use for compliance.

For existing Apiax customers, Behavox says the current product and support continue unchanged, now backed by its research budget and global customer success organisation. Anyone with Apiax in a procurement file should still ask whether contracts, data processing terms and hosting locations will move to Behavox entities, since none of that is addressed in the announcement.

Our compliance software category lists 5 products.

Behavox has operated since 2014 and says it serves more than 120 institutions, including 70 global banks. It opened a Milan office in August and took a $175 million preferred equity investment from HPS Investment Partners, part of BlackRock, in June.
