Retirements due in October: AWS WAF Classic, Proton and Greengrass V1 on the 7th, Windows 11 24H2 and Server 2012 ESU on the 13th

29 September 2026 — Two vendors' own lifecycle pages set a cluster of end dates in the first half of October 2026. After these dates the products get no further updates or support; in AWS's case the service stops operating. TrustList has already covered the Office LTSC 2021 and Azure Functions dates separately.

AWS: end of support on 7 October 2026

AWS's list of services in sunset, which it announced on 7 October 2025, gives 7 October 2026 as the end of support for:

• AWS WAF Classic — rules need to move to the current AWS WAF;
• AWS Proton;
• AWS IoT Greengrass V1 — edge devices must be on Greengrass V2;
• Amazon FinSpace;
• Amazon Lookout for Equipment.

The same list gives 30 September 2026 for AWS App Mesh and 30 October 2026 for Amazon Pinpoint. AWS defines the sunset date as the day it ends operation and support of the service.

Microsoft: 1 and 13 October 2026

Microsoft's "Ending support in 2026" page lists:

• 1 October: retirement of Azure Anomaly Detector, Azure Metrics Advisor and Azure Personalizer.
• 13 October, end of servicing: Windows 11 Home and Pro, version 24H2, and Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises 2025 release wave 1 (version 26.x).
• 13 October, end of support: Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 Extended Security Updates Year 3, and Windows 10 2016 LTSB.
• 13 October, end of mainstream support: Windows Server 2022, which moves to extended support with security updates only.
• 10 November, end of servicing: Windows 11 Enterprise and Education 23H2, .NET 8, PowerShell 7.4 and Azure IoT Edge 1.5.

Who is affected

Teams running any of the AWS services above; organisations with Windows 11 Home or Pro 24H2 devices (common in small businesses and bring-your-own-device fleets); anyone still paying for Server 2012 security updates; and Business Central on-premises customers on version 26.

What to do

• Search your AWS accounts for WAF Classic web ACLs, Proton templates, Greengrass V1 core devices, FinSpace environments and Lookout for Equipment projects, and finish migration before 7 October.
• Move Windows 11 Home and Pro devices to 25H2 through Windows Update or your device-management tool.
• Replace or migrate the last Windows Server 2012 workloads; after 13 October they receive no security updates.
• Upgrade Business Central on-premises to a supported version.
• Add the November .NET 8 and PowerShell 7.4 dates to your development roadmap now.
