PataBid

PataBid Inc. is a Calgary company that makes estimating software for specialist building contractors. Its product, Quantify, handles the takeoff and pricing work that comes before a bid for the electrical, plumbing, fire protection or building automation package on a project, and its team describes itself as estimators with decades of experience in mechanical and electrical estimating.

What the software does

In Quantify an estimator selects an item on a drawing, sets its attributes, and the AI finds the matching items across the rest of the plans, automating counts and measurements. Prices come from a built-in library of more than 60,000 items and assemblies and from live integrations with suppliers such as Gescan and City Electric Supply, which bring each contractor's own pricing in. A proposal module produces the bid, closeout tools cover crews, packages and equipment, and a PDF editor extracts and marks up drawing pages. The company is testing Newton, a conversational estimating agent, with selected customers and plans a commercial launch in 2027.

Who it serves

Electrical, mechanical, plumbing and fire protection contractors in Canada and the US, on residential, commercial, industrial and institutional projects such as hospitals and universities. PataBid says more than 200 contractors use Quantify and more than $2 billion of bid value has gone through it. Licences start at $2,460 a year.
