Outrider

Outrider automates the yards at logistics hubs, where trailers wait between the warehouse and the road. It combines software, self-driving electric yard trucks and on-site infrastructure to move trailers with nobody in the cab. The company, based in Henderson, Colorado, aims to make yards safer and more efficient and to replace diesel yard trucks.

Services

• Autonomous trailer moves: trailers are driven from parking spots to dock doors and back without a driver, handling reversing, hitching and brake line connection; the firm reports more than 100,000 such moves.
• Mixed-traffic driving: route planning and navigation around fixed and moving objects under each yard's own rules.
• Yard management software: dispatch of manual and autonomous trucks together, live trailer inventory and automatic re-queuing of tasks.
• Safety systems: multiple sensors, a safe-state fallback, emergency stop buttons and remote monitoring around the clock.

Who it works with

Outrider targets consumer packaged goods, retail and e-commerce, manufacturing, parcel delivery and intermodal rail operators.
