HapYak
Interactive video technology acquired by Brightcove in 2021 and now sold as Brightcove Interactivity
About HapYak
HapYak was an interactive video technology that now lives on inside Brightcove's online video platform. In October 2021 Brightcove said it was buying the HapYak technology from Newsela, a K-12 instructional content company; the two had worked together as technology partners since 2013. The original HapYak domain no longer works.
What HapYak offers
- Quizzes and polls — questions inside a video, with actions triggered on completion or on a pass or fail.
- Hotspots and links — clickable areas within the picture.
- Branching and chapters — viewers choose their own route through the content.
- Overlays and forms — branded layers and custom forms that collect viewer data.
- Live event tools — chat and forms for live audiences.
Who it works with
Brightcove markets the capability, now called Brightcove Interactivity, to marketing, communications and events teams who want interactive on-demand and live video without IT help. It names Sotheby's and TN Marketing among customers the partners served together.
