About Folge

Folge, from Germany, is a Windows and macOS application for producing how-to guides, standard operating procedures and tutorials. It records a screenshot each time the user clicks and turns the sequence into ordered steps.

What Folge does

  • Click-based capture: records one app, the full screen or a chosen area, using clicks, hotkeys or both, with a pause option.
  • Step editing: steps get titles and descriptions and can be reordered, hidden or given sub-steps; descriptions can be drafted automatically from the image.
  • Annotation tools: nine tools including arrows, shapes, blurring, redaction, zoomed areas and numbered markers.
  • Multi-format export: one guide exports to nine formats, among them PDF, Word, PowerPoint, HTML and SCORM.
  • Custom styling: fonts, colours, logos and custom CSS, with guides embeddable in Confluence, SharePoint or a knowledge base.
