Chalk

Chalk made lesson-planning software for teachers, including the Planboard planner, and is now one of PowerSchool's acquisitions. PowerSchool, a K-12 education software company in Folsom, California, groups Chalk under its curriculum and instruction software. The old Chalk web address now leads to PowerSchool Curriculum & Instruction, while the Chalk sign-in stays open for existing Planboard users.

What Chalk offers

• Planboard — the original lesson planner, still reachable by current users.
• Curriculum repository — one store for lesson plans, pacing guides and curriculum maps across a school or district.
• Lesson planning — templates and a submit-and-review process for teachers' plans.
• PowerBuddy AI — AI help drafting standards-aligned lesson and curriculum content.
• Standards tracking and collaboration — coverage reporting and shared planning between teachers and coaches.
• Schoology integration — access from PowerSchool's Schoology learning management system via single sign-on.

Who it works with

The product serves K-12 teachers, instructional coaches, principals and district administrators; PowerSchool says 382 organisations use it, including Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia. Families and accreditation bodies can also be given a view of curriculum plans.
