Castr

Castr sells a single platform that covers the full chain behind live video: delivery, recording, hosting, monetisation and OTT channels. The company is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and has traded since 2018. It serves production agencies, media and OTT operators, sports rights holders, schools and universities, churches, corporate teams and government bodies.

What Castr offers

• Live streaming — delivery over several CDNs with monitoring and a backup ingest, working with any RTMP or SRT encoder.
• Multistreaming — one feed sent to more than 30 platforms at the same time.
• 24/7 playout — scheduled linear channels run like a TV station.
• Hosting and OTT — video libraries, branded portals and OTT apps under the customer's own brand.
• Monetisation — ticketed access, advertising and paid memberships for live events and replays.
• APIs and security — video APIs, webhooks, DRM, watermarking and access controls.

Who it works with

By its own count over 5,000 businesses rely on it; named customers include Disney, Autodesk, Sony, PBS, the Wikimedia Foundation, the University of Texas and the United Nations. A self-serve option is offered for church and nonprofit broadcasts.
