Assembler AI raises $4m seed to watch manual assembly stations

22 October 2026: Assembler AI, a Montreal computer vision company, says it has closed a $4 million seed round to sell its Operator Vision system to North American manufacturers. Diagram ClimateTech Fund led, with Drive Capital, Fondaction, Developer Capital, Mavrik, Sprout Fund and Telegraph Ventures taking part. The company says the money lets it move beyond a limited pre-launch customer set.

Not yet independently verified. We found the announcement only as published by the trade site ManufacturingTomorrow; Assembler AI's own site carries no copy and neither does the lead investor's. The amount and investor list are as that release states them. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

One camera over each manual station

Operator Vision points a single camera at a workstation where people assemble by hand. The company says it reads the plant's existing work instructions to learn the steps, tools and parts for that station, and then follows every cycle. Four modules use the same feed:

  • Real-time quality alerts for a missed step, a wrong part or a broken sequence, with the video clip attached
  • Automated time studies giving step-level cycle times across stations and shifts
  • Teammate AI, which guides the operator through the sequence at the bench
  • Risk detection for actions such as a part dropped on the floor or a step into the wrong zone

Assembler AI says a station can be live in two weeks. Its pitch is aimed at quality and continuous improvement engineers, who today learn about a skipped step at final test or from a customer complaint.

Why the investors say now

"Our solutions solve a number of problems for manufacturers who rely on manual processes," said CEO Brett Beranek, who puts the gap between plant capacity and actual output in the United States at 76%. Jordan Steiner, CEO of Developer Capital, said "the 'why now' is obvious" because the technology has caught up with a need manufacturers have had for decades. For the lead investor, the angle is waste: "Catching mistakes earlier can prevent valuable materials from becoming scrap," said Amélie Foz-Couture, General Partner and Co-Head of Diagram ClimateTech Fund.

A team from video AI and voice AI

Beranek has spent 25 years in AI companies. The release says he scaled the video AI business at Genetec, founded and sold the facial recognition company Viion, and scaled Nuance's voice AI division until Microsoft acquired it. Head of Product Jonayed Islam advised large manufacturers as a strategy consultant and launched JetScale AI at Diagram Ventures, which we list among venture capital firms. Head of AI Artem Pilzak holds a PhD on computer vision generalisation, and Head of Engineering Stephan Lefrancois has run engineering teams in telecom, enterprise software and security for more than two decades.

The release gives no founding year and no customer names. Our quality management software category lists 15 products.
