iFax

Faxing persists in healthcare, government and legal work, but the machine, the phone line and the supplies are a nuisance. iFax is a web-based fax service for sending and receiving faxes from a computer, phone or tablet instead. The company says it has served businesses of all sizes for more than a decade, and states that its service meets HIPAA, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 requirements and uses end-to-end encryption.

Sending and receiving

A user sends a fax as easily as an email: templates can be reused, attachments dragged in, and recent contacts selected. There is no queue and, the vendor says, no long loading time. Faxes can also be sent by email, scanned and sent from a phone, or broadcast to many recipients at once, and a one-time fax option exists for people who only fax occasionally. Mobile apps are available for iPhone and Android, along with a Windows app.

Numbers and team inboxes

An organization can get a new fax number, including a toll-free one, or port its existing number. Incoming faxes can go to a shared team inbox or straight to the person assigned to each number, so that nothing gets lost. The company says adoption takes a day or two with no training, since anyone who can send an email can use it.

Integrations and automation

iFax connects with Google Workspace and Microsoft, and with thousands of other apps. A fax API lets developers add faxing to their own software, and the site describes smart automations, a white label option and 24/7 live support. It positions the product as scalable fax blasts that stay reliable and compliant.

Who uses it

Healthcare organizations and clinics are the leading example, with HIPAA-compliant faxing a central message, but the service is also marketed to government departments and other businesses. According to the company, five million customers use iFax and it has won seven industry awards. It also promotes a half-price discount applied at checkout, which is a time-limited offer.
