IFS Cloud

ERP, enterprise asset management and field service in one product.

About IFS Cloud

IFS Cloud's distinguishing decision is one of packaging: enterprise resource planning, enterprise asset management and field service management are delivered as one product on one data model, rather than as separate applications that have to be integrated. For organisations whose economics are driven by physical assets and by service delivery in the field, that removes a class of integration work — and a class of data disagreement — that would otherwise sit between three systems.

The ERP component covers finance, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing and project management. The asset management component handles the full asset lifecycle: asset registers and hierarchies, preventive and condition-based maintenance, work orders, spare parts inventory, and reliability analysis. The field service component covers scheduling and dispatch, mobile work execution, contract and warranty handling, and service parts logistics. Because they share a data model, an asset, the work order against it, the parts consumed and the resulting financial posting are the same records rather than reconciled copies.

A notable capability is planning and scheduling optimisation, used to allocate technicians, crews and equipment against constraints such as skills, certifications, location, travel time and contractual service commitments — the kind of problem that becomes intractable manually at scale. Project management is similarly substantial, supporting long-running, capital-intensive projects with cost control and progress measurement, which is what makes IFS credible in engineering, construction and defence contexts.

IFS targets a defined set of industries rather than selling horizontally, with configurations for aerospace and defence, energy, utilities and resources, manufacturing, construction and engineering, service industries and telecommunications. Aerospace and defence in particular has requirements — configuration control, maintenance repair and overhaul, complex regulatory obligation — that relatively few ERP vendors address in depth.

It is delivered as a cloud service or deployed in the customer's own environment, with a browser-based interface, mobile applications for field work, and published APIs for integration. It is typically evaluated against SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, Infor CloudSuite and specialist EAM or FSM products, and the decision usually turns on whether the combined ERP, asset and service scope is worth more than best-of-breed strength in any one of them.
