MGS5 EV

Overview

The MGS5 EV is an electric SUV built on MG's Modular Scalable Platform, the architecture first used on the MG4 EV in 2022. MG says it combines fast charging, cabin space, driver controls, driving dynamics and safety equipment as standard. Two motors are offered, 125 kW and 170 kW, and the stronger one drives the rear wheels to 62 mph in 6.3 seconds.

Battery and charging

The third-generation ultra-thin battery supports up to 298 miles (479 km) of WLTP combined range. The 400V system accepts DC charging at up to 139 kW, and a 10 to 80 percent charge takes 28 minutes or less on a 150 kW charger under standard test conditions. MG says the pack is designed to hold its charge capacity even with frequent fast charging. A kinetic energy recovery system offers four recovery levels and a one-pedal mode.

Connected services and assistance

The MG iSMART system links the car, phone and internet. Through the app owners can locate the car, check its status and pre-heat the cabin. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. MG Pilot driver assistance includes blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert, and drivers can switch features on or off, with the car remembering the choice. Trophy adds a 360 degree camera. Seven airbags are fitted, and stopping from 62 mph takes 35.5 metres.
