MG IM6

Overview

The MG IM6 is a pure electric SUV that MG describes as intelligent, with supercar-level power wrapped in a flowing body. It is the SUV sibling of the IM5 saloon and uses the same 800V approach to charging.

Performance, battery and charging

The dual motor version has 751 hp from what MG calls the Hurricane Motor and reaches 62 mph in 3.5 seconds. Its 100 kWh battery pack is quoted at up to 388 miles (624 km) of WLTP combined range. MG says a 10 to 80 percent charge takes 17 minutes, measured on a 350 kW ultra-fast charger under standard test conditions, and notes that real-world times depend on the charger, temperature and battery age.

Technology and handling

One-Touch iAD is standard and handles parking, pulling out, kerbside parking and reversing. Rainy Night Mode combines radar, cameras and other sensor data to show pedestrians and vehicles on screen when visibility is poor. Four-wheel steering is fitted as standard and gives a turning circle of 10.18 metres. Intelligent Comfort Stop is described as a way to take the jerk out of braking in slow traffic.

Cabin and space

An ultra-wide 26.3 inch touch screen switches between light and dark modes. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless phone charging are listed. Heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic glass roof and double-layer soundproof glass feature, and adjustable rear seat backrests are mentioned. Luggage space is 665 litres in the boot, plus a 32 litre front compartment and storage under the boot floor.
