TrustList summary

The Cyberster is MG's return to the open two-seat sports car, this time with a battery. MG's advanced design director, Carl Gotham, calls it a striking all-electric roadster that promises to be as exciting as MG sports cars of the past. It has scissor-opening doors, a fully electric hood and a low, aerodynamic shape. All technical information is subject to final UK type approval.

Two versions, one battery

Both versions use a 77 kWh battery. The single-motor Trophy drives the rear wheels, makes 250 kW, reaches 62 mph in 5.0 seconds and has a top speed of 121 mph. MG quotes it at up to 316 miles (507 km) of WLTP combined range, with a city figure of 400 miles (640 km). The dual-motor GT adds four-wheel drive and 375 kW, which MG converts to 496 hp. It cuts the sprint to 3.2 seconds, tops out at 125 mph and is quoted at 276 miles (443 km) combined, or 340 miles (545 km) in the city.

Charging

MG estimates a 10 to 80 percent charge at 38 minutes on a 150 kW public rapid charger, under standardised test conditions. Real charging times vary with the charger, the temperature and the battery, and MG notes that 150 kW chargers may be limited in some areas.

Cabin and equipment

Both versions share a wraparound three-screen cockpit, a 7 inch touch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system. Launch control is fitted. The Trophy rides on 19 inch alloy wheels and the GT on 20 inch wheels. No price, warranty or driver-assistance detail is recorded for the UK car yet.
