TrustList summary

The Magma badge is Genesis's performance line, and the GV60 Magma carries it on an electric car. It takes the regular GV60 and adds a wide, lowered body, a suspension of its own and a drivetrain tuned for track work as well as the commute. Peak output is 478 kW, split between a 175 kW front motor and a 303 kW rear motor, with maximum torque of 790 Nm.

Power, battery and range

The car uses an 84.0 kWh lithium-ion battery from SK On. Genesis gives a combined range of 346 km under Korean certification, which is a different test from WLTP and not comparable to it. Efficiency is listed at 3.7 km per kWh combined, 3.9 in the city and 3.4 on the highway. A High Performance Battery Control function sets the battery temperature to suit each type of driving, with extra cooling to sustain output.

Chassis and aerodynamics

The Magma has an electronically controlled suspension that no other GV60 gets, with a Hydro G-Bushing at the front and a dual-layer bushing at the rear to absorb vibration. A rear winglet-style spoiler, a new bumper and side skirts control airflow for downforce and cooling. The wheels are 21 inch forged units in matte graphite grey with Pirelli P Zero 5 summer tyres in size 275/35R21.

Driving character

Three modes are available: GT for relaxed cruising, SPRINT for maximum handling and power, and MY, which you set up yourself. A virtual eight-speed shift system with a sound profile built around a 9,000 rpm redline gives the car a gear-change feel. A Virtual Gear Shift display sits in the Magma-specific instrument cluster.

Cabin and size

Inside are ten-way power bucket seats in suede and leather, a Magma steering wheel, metal pedals and a head-up display, with orange accents in the Magma Orange interior. The car is 4,635 mm long, 1,940 mm wide and 1,560 mm tall on a 2,900 mm wheelbase and weighs 2,250 kg, which may exceed the limit of some mechanical car parks in its home market.
