BYD HAN EV

The HAN EV is a large electric saloon built for drivers who want a quiet, quick car with a lounge-like back seat. Drive, range and charging

Electric all-wheel drive engages in real time, and BYD says it gives good traction in all weather. The 584 km range figure is measured on the NEDC cycle, which is not the same test as WLTP, so do not set it directly beside WLTP figures. BYD fits its Blade Battery and calls it the safest battery in the world, backed by more than 20 years of battery work at the company. Battery capacity in kilowatt hours is not stated. The fast charge from 30 to 80 percent takes 33 minutes.

Chassis and design

Braking comes from Brembo front calipers behind 19 inch dual-colour alloy wheels, with Bosch's IPB integrated brake control system, which BYD says shortens brake response time. The body is shaped to cut drag and extend range, and the door handles are flush with the body and deploy automatically as the driver approaches. LED headlights echo a continuous rear light BYD calls the Dragon Claw.

Cabin and technology

The cabin is trimmed in Nappa leather, European wood and aluminium switches. A rotating touchscreen sits in the centre, a heads-up display projects driving information onto the windshield, and the Music Cockpit is a custom Dynaudio hi-fi system. The rear is described as a deluxe lounge with hand-selected Nappa leather and a first-class central control pad. The DiPilot driver assistance system is fitted, although its individual functions are not listed.
