Our Approach to Product Development

Not everyone with a great idea has the technical know-how or the marketing experience to turn that idea into a manufacturable and saleable product While some of the products we design, patent and bring to market are our own, we also offer our expertise to start-ups, SMEs and entrepreneurs who could benefit from our expertise and our unique product development process

We are innovators, designers and engineers, but we are not patent attorneys For that reason, we work with a select group of trusted Chartered Patent Attorneys who get involved, when necessary, in the patent drafting and filing stages Each one of these legal experts has been carefully vetted to ensure their integrity and that they align with our values

Every step of the D2M development process is infused with transparency and honesty If we think you have a great idea, we’ll say so and then keep you involved in every step of its design and development Conversely, if we believe your idea is untenable or needs more thought, we’ll also tell you We’re here to provide honest feedback and to help great ideas see the light of day

We always fully respect the confidentiality of our clients’ ideas and will always and only work on the project for your benefit We wouldn’t have a business after 12 years, unless we were entirely trustworthy with new, exciting ideas If 3rd party participation is required at any stage we will explain why and get your approval before bringing suppliers, lawyers or anyone else in on the project

The Story of our Product Design Company

D2M was founded out of a desire to support business founders with new product ideas from inception through to launch Back in 2010 almost all product design companies only offered product development services Very few product design firms, if any, support their clients with production, marketing, IP protection or any of the other vital areas necessary for commerically viable product development

To provide this complete idea to launch process, we have built up a network of professionals who are experts in their field and also share our values We integrate these expert services within our unique, bespoke process where they will add the most value to the project

D2M grew rapidly, as this holistic approach was in great demand, and many other design firms have now expanded what they offer D2M continued to evolve our product design and development services, staying one step ahead of the pack, and we also put our money where our mouth is and develop our own range of products, some of which launched with John Lewis Founder, Phil Staunton, now splits his time between continuing to run D2M and educating, inspiring and supporting business founders through all stages of developing and selling a new product from his personal experience prototyping, manufacturing and marketing his pushchair range
