Docusign buys Suplari to read procurement spend against contracts
3 November 2026: Docusign has bought Suplari, an AI procurement intelligence company, and will put its technology and team into the Docusign Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform. The aim is to connect what supplier contracts say with what a company actually spends, so that purchases outside agreed terms, missed savings and supplier failures show up sooner. Terms were not disclosed.
Not yet independently verified. Docusign gives no price and no closing date, and the history of Suplari's time inside Microsoft comes from a GeekWire summary we could not open. Suplari has published no statement of its own that we found. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.
"Procurement teams need to understand both what their supplier agreements say and how their company actually spends," said Allan Thygesen, Docusign's chief executive. Jeff Gerber, Suplari's chief executive, said joining Docusign "allows us to connect that intelligence more closely to the agreements that shape a company's spending."
Spend data meets the contract engine
Suplari reads spending and supplier data from finance and purchasing systems. Docusign's agreement AI engine, Iris, reads contracts. The announcement lists five things the two are meant to do together:
- use AI agents to find chances to consolidate purchases and capture negotiated savings;
- track obligations in supplier agreements and check whether suppliers meet them;
- link spending patterns to contract terms before a renewal or renegotiation;
- flag purchases made outside agreed terms, with recommended next steps;
- extend integrations with SAP Ariba, Coupa and Oracle so the results appear inside the procurement tools teams already use.
Docusign says Suplari was named to The Hackett Group's "50 to Know" list of procurement technology providers five years running and was a 2026 Top Tech for Spend Analytics.
A second life after Microsoft
GeekWire's summary of the deal says Suplari's founders spun the company out of Microsoft nearly three years ago, buying it back about five years after Microsoft had acquired it. We could not open GeekWire's article, and Docusign's release does not mention the history.
What changes for Suplari customers
The release describes plans, not dates. It does not say whether Suplari will still be sold on its own, whether it will need a Docusign IAM licence, or when the combined features ship. A procurement team that has Suplari running against its ERP data should ask its account manager about the product's roadmap and data processing terms before its next renewal, because the processor of that spend data is now a different company.
Docusign already holds several profiles in our catalogue. Our procurement software category lists five products, spend management software 16 and contract management software eight: the three fields this deal joins.
