Boomi buys Elementary to add data observability to its platform

19 October 2026: Boomi, the integration and data platform company based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, has acquired Elementary Data, a Tel Aviv data observability company whose open-source tool it says is used by more than 1,500 data teams and downloaded over a million times a month. Terms were not disclosed. Elementary is Boomi's third data acquisition after Rivery and Lunar.dev.

Not yet independently verified. Price and terms are not disclosed, and neither company has said what happens to the open-source package or to Elementary Cloud pricing. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

What Elementary brings

Elementary started in 2022 as an open-source project and added a paid product, Elementary Cloud, in 2024. It watches data pipelines for freshness, volume and quality anomalies before bad data reaches dashboards or models, traces lineage down to individual columns across ingestion, transformation, semantic layers and BI tools, and keeps a shared catalogue with owners, tags and health scores. It also runs an MCP server that exposes data context and health to AI tools, and AI agents that write tests, triage incidents and suggest performance fixes.

Boomi says the open-source project has a community of about 4,000 members and 1.1 million monthly downloads. Elementary's own home page now carries the line "Elementary is joining Boomi, the data activation company for AI."

Why Boomi wants it

Boomi's pitch is that agents acting on enterprise data make data reliability a production risk rather than back-office hygiene. "AI is only as trustworthy as the data behind it," said Steve Lucas, Boomi's chairman and chief executive. Elementary's chief executive and co-founder, Maayan Salom, said the company started from the idea that "data teams deserved the same reliability tooling that software engineering teams have relied on for years."

Boomi cites a study it commissioned from Forrester Consulting in July 2026, in which 86% of leaders said their organisations had moved beyond AI agent pilots but only 34% trusted the actions those agents take. Boomi says it has more than 30,000 customers and 800 partners. The capabilities will be folded into the Boomi Enterprise Platform alongside its integration, API and MCP management, and data management products.

What existing Elementary users should watch

The announcement says nothing about the licence of the open-source package, Elementary Cloud's pricing or contract terms, or a migration path, and it gives no closing or integration date. Teams that run the open-source package inside their transformation pipelines should pin the version they use today and watch the project's repository for licence or governance changes; teams on Elementary Cloud should check how renewals will be handled once contracts move to Boomi.

Our data quality software category lists 13 products and our integration software category 18, which is where Boomi and its nearest rivals sit.
