Whimsical

Whimsical is a web application for diagrams, flowcharts, wireframes and whiteboards. It runs in the browser as a single-page app and syncs changes between collaborators as they edit.

What Whimsical offers

• Flowcharts — Predictive shapes and keyboard shortcuts speed up drawing processes and user flows.
• Multiplayer editing — Several people work on a board at once, with comments placed where the work happens.
• Templates — A library of expert-made starting points helps with blank-canvas moments.
• AI generation — A text prompt can produce an editable flowchart.
• Version history — Earlier states of a board can be viewed and restored.

Who it works with

The site says millions of people use it, and integrations bring boards into Notion, Jira, Slack and similar tools.

Key facts

• Architecture: A browser app syncing to a cloud backend, with a PostgreSQL database
• Canvas: Infinite, shared by diagrams, wireframes and whiteboards
