Screencastify

Screencastify is a screen recording and video editing tool that runs in the browser. It is aimed mainly at schools, where teachers and students record lessons and assignments, but the maker also pitches it to workplace teams who would rather show a message than type a long email.

What Screencastify offers

• Screen recording and editing — captures the screen and lets users trim and tidy a video before sharing it.
• Interactive questions — questions can be added to a video, so it can double as a graded assignment.
• Submit — lets students make videos and hand them in as assignments or portfolio pieces.
• Annotations — simple markers that direct viewers to the key points on screen.
• Video analytics — shows how viewers engage with each recording.
• Custom branding — lets a school or organisation put its own look on its videos.

Who it works with

Teachers, students and school districts are the main audience. Account managers, designers, sales teams and marketers also use it, and it is described as working on Chromebooks.
