Yamaha adds YE4 and YE10 SCARA robots for Asia and an Indian sales arm

23 July 2026: Yamaha Motor launched two SCARA robots, the YE4 and YE10, and a matching RCX440 controller, aimed at China, ASEAN countries, India and Japan. Two months earlier, on 22 May, the company opened a robotics sales and service division in Gurugram, Haryana, giving its robot range a direct presence in India.

Two robots, two payloads

The YE4 carries up to 4 kg and has a standard cycle time of 0.40 seconds. The YE10 carries up to 10 kg, with a cycle time of 0.36 to 0.42 seconds depending on the model. Both are built on Yamaha's YK-XE series with enhanced motor heat dissipation for sustained operation. Yamaha says repeatability is high enough for precision assembly and sealing, and that reviewing key parts brought costs down.

Typical uses are small-part assembly, packaging, sorting and inspection. The target industries are electrical and electronic components such as smartphones and PCs, automotive electronics including lithium-ion battery module assembly and power semiconductor placement, and food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics manufacturing, especially in cleanrooms.

Setup without calibration

The battery that stores the home position now sits on the robot itself, so no home-position calibration is needed during installation or relocation. Lower power consumption of that absolute battery reduces the number of batteries, which shortens setup.

The RCX440 controller

The RCX440 is based on the RCX340 multi-axis controller. The rotary sensor changes from a resolver to an encoder, which improves resolution, and fewer components with optimised circuitry and enclosure lower the cost. It keeps the RCX340's operating interface for an easier transition and works with the existing RCX-Studio software, PBX and I/O interfaces. Buyers need no additional software or teach pendant.

Why Asia

Yamaha cites the growth of new energy vehicle adoption and labour shortages worldwide as the market context. The company introduced SCARA robots in its own factories in 1976 and says it now offers one of the industry's most extensive SCARA ranges.

Gurugram: sales, service and a showroom

The Robotics Business Support Division sits inside Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd., which mainly sells motorcycles and other Yamaha products. It starts by supporting SMT assembly systems and industrial robots, and the structures needed for semiconductor back-end processing equipment come after that initial phase.

The facility includes a showroom where clients can try Yamaha's latest robotics products and picture them in their own production sites. Yamaha says India's manufacturing sector has grown and become more sophisticated and is expected to keep expanding, and that the Indian robotics field shows strong market growth. It sees room to build brand recognition and scale its robotics business there.
