Launch continued to work with The Settlement in 2022, and what a year it was! The Settlement Neighbourhood Centre has had a big year in 2022 celebrating its 130th Anniversary
A message from the Settlement CEO “As the oldest charity in NSW, we are proud of our achievements and the tireless work of our dedicated team in supporting our community, the local Aboriginal community children and young people in Darlington, Redfern and the inner city and providing safe and affordable social housing to our tenants 2022 has been a year of connections Connecting to our community by reinstating, after a 20 year hiatus, of the Edward Street Festival in November and strengthening our connection with Sydney University through our anniversary fundraiser at the Women’s College in May
Our Children’s Program has just been awarded three-year funding from the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) to strengthen our work with vulnerable children and we look forward to building greater sustainability in all our work with children and young people in 2023 as we work with our community to ensure that the gap in education, engagement and outcomes for First Nations Australians is closed ” The Settlement’s Aboriginal Youth Leadership and Strong Minds Healthy Spirits Youth Wellbeing Programs are successful initiatives that build engagement, leadership, health, and wellbeing and they need support to ensure they are sustainable
