Sources in Vehicle factsThe MG HS Plug-in Hybrid is the plug-in version of MG's mid-size HS SUV. It pairs electric drive with a petrol engine, so it suits drivers whose daily trips are short but who still want to cover a long journey without stopping to charge. MG notes that What Car? named it Best Plug-in Hybrid in both 2025 and 2026. Euro NCAP rated the HS five stars in 2024.
A 24.7 kWh battery gives up to 75 miles (121 km) of electric-only driving on the WLTP combined cycle. MG pitches that figure at short urban commutes, where the petrol engine would rarely be needed. The powertrain is a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine with a two-speed automatic. A charging speed and charge time are not recorded for the car. It is sold in SE and Trophy trims, with silver roof rails, a rear spoiler and LED lights front and rear.
A 12.3 inch touch screen and a 12.3 inch virtual driver display come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation and wireless charging. Keyless entry is joined by a Bluetooth key that lets the owner open, lock and start the car from a phone. The MG iSMART app can lock the car remotely, locate the car, show fuel level, range and tyre pressure, plan journeys, set cabin temperature and pre-heat the seats. Trophy adds a Wi-Fi hotspot, a panoramic opening sunroof, front seat ventilation, dual-zone climate control, a power tailgate and heated leather-style and suede-style seats with memory.
MG Pilot is standard. It covers adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, active emergency braking that detects pedestrians and cyclists, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind spot detection with lane change assist, a door open warning and rear cross traffic alert.
