Dragonfly is an in-memory datastore that is compatible with Redis and Valkey clients, so existing applications written for those engines may be able to connect to it without code changes. Its release notes mention tiered storage, replication and streaming. The code is licensed by DragonflyDB, Ltd.
The licence is the Business Source License 1.1, which is source-available rather than open source. The change date is 1 November 2030, after which the code converts to Apache 2.0. The additional use grant permits use only as part of your own product or service, provided that product or service is not itself an in-memory data store. Anyone planning to offer Dragonfly, or something resembling it, to third parties should read the grant with care. GitHub reports the licence simply as Other, because it is not a standard identifier.
The commercial offering is Dragonfly Cloud. Self-managed use is also possible through the published code, although the deployment options were not set out in detail. Costs for the cloud service should be confirmed with the vendor.
