Our Story:
Cashfree was initially launched in 2015 as a payment gateway. While operating the payment gateway, the founders, Akash and Reeju, found it difficult to use online bank portals for disbursing payments every day. In mid-2016, Cashfree decided to work on building a dedicated bulk Payouts solution for businesses operating in India.

Cashfree was founded in 2015 by IIIT Hyderabad graduate Akash Sinha and IIT Kharagpur graduate Reeju Datta. Cashfree is backed by payments pioneer, Paypal, and the popular Silicon Valley accelerator, Y Combinator. The team comprises ex-founders, engineers, product architects and growth hackers from institutions like IIT, IIM, IIIT who worked at PayU, Amazon, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank. More than 12,000 businesses use Cashfree’s platform to collect payments from customers or send money to users and vendors. It counts Xiaomi, Tencent, Zomato, Cred, Club Factory, Google-backed Dunzo, donation platforms like Ketto and Milaap amongst its customers.
