piXlogic

piXlogic, a privately owned firm based in Los Altos, California, makes piXserve, which analyses and searches image and video collections by what they contain. The software reads archived files and live feeds, picks out faces, objects, scenes and text, and stores searchable metadata so material can be found without manual tagging. Customers can run it on their own premises or in a private cloud.

What piXlogic offers

• Content discovery — finds images or video showing particular people, objects, scenes or text strings.
• Auto-tagging and alerts — produces metadata automatically and warns users when something of interest shows up in a live feed or a web crawl.
• Editions — Enterprise, Professional, Standard and Workgroup versions that run on hardware the customer owns.
• Cloud and big-data options — usage-billed editions through AWS Marketplace and builds for Hadoop clusters from Cloudera.
• piXsearch API — a REST web-services interface for building piXserve functions into other software.

Who it works with

Its users include law enforcement, surveillance, military and intelligence, retail and media organisations. Government buyers can order via Carahsoft, including on GSA Schedule 70, while resellers operate on four continents.
