Lookback

Lookback makes software for remote user research, letting UX researchers, product managers and designers watch real people use a product and talk through what they are doing. Teams can host live interviews with colleagues observing, or send unmoderated tasks that participants complete alone. Each session is captured on video with a transcript, and the firm counts over 400,000 users and upwards of 1.5 million sessions in more than ten years of operation.

What Lookback offers

• Moderated research — live interviews with instant note-taking, a separate room where observers can chat, and AI that proposes findings matched to stakeholder goals.
• Unmoderated research — self-run studies in which AI poses follow-up questions and adds short headline summaries to each transcript.
• Lookback Discover — ask a question across all sessions in a project and get answers that jump to the relevant point in each recording; it also links to a team's own AI model through MCP.
• Recruitment — participants via a User Interviews integration, or a team's own users.
• Security and privacy — redaction in one click, regular SOC 2 Type II audits, and compliance with CCPA and GDPR.
