An open-source, self-hosted email API compatible with Resend: send transactional mail, broadcasts and automations through your own Amazon SES account, with templates, webhooks, SMTP and an MCP server. Free to self-host.
Not yet independently verified. The launch date rests on the maker’s own changelog (v0.1.0, 30 September 2026); the product was shown on Product Hunt on 4 October 2026. The site names Panara Studios as the operator but no address, and no independent report was found. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.
opensend is an open-source email platform from Panara Studios, released as version 0.1.0 on 30 September 2026 and shown on Product Hunt on 4 October. It offers a REST API compatible with Resend’s, with scoped API keys, rate limits and idempotent retries, so applications written for that service can point at a self-hosted server instead. Mail is sent through the customer’s own Amazon SES account, with guided onboarding from the dashboard, and the platform manages sending domains with automatic DNS setup, Domain Connect, DMARC and inbound receiving. It also covers emails, broadcasts, templates and automations, plus webhooks, SMTP, a Node SDK and an MCP server for AI agents. The code is published under the Apache 2.0 licence and self-hosting is free; the sending cost is whatever Amazon SES charges the customer. A hosted cloud version is listed as coming soon, with a waitlist.
