East Coast Risk Management

East Coast Risk Management is the risk arm of Keystone, and it takes on safety, HR, claims and DOT compliance work for employers in several states, on an outsourced basis. The division says it was built on innovative solutions to the toughest risk problems, and that its results are tied to the success its clients achieve. It works through eleven locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois and Georgia.

Safety consulting and OSHA compliance

Its safety work spans adherence to OSHA rules, preventing accidents, vetting contractors and delivering safety courses. The division says its aim is to provide effective OSHA compliance and to keep accidents from happening in the first place.

HR compliance and employee handbooks

Human resources consulting includes HR compliance audits, employee handbook development, recruiting and training. It also covers labor relations and benefits compliance, an HR helpline, leave administration under the FMLA and non FMLA rules, hiring procedures and employment agreements.

Claims management across lines of cover

The claims team manages workers' compensation, unemployment compensation, auto liability, general liability and property liability claims. It also provides third party administration services, which the division says helps reduce the cost of claims as they occur.

DOT compliance and fleet telematics

For fleets, the division runs a DOT helpline, a web based system for DOT files and fleet telematics. It says its fleet safety specialists know what it takes to keep a fleet safe and compliant.

Keystone Risk Essentials for smaller employers

Keystone Risk Essentials is a guided and customizable safety and HR service that the division presents as a low cost way to stay compliant. Employers can adapt it to their own needs rather than buying a fixed package.

Resources for managers

The division publishes an HR Counselor's Corner blog and a podcast, the Risk Management Roundtable, which it describes as a way to keep up with safety, claims and HR trends.

Outsourced work for employers

Much of the division's work is outsourced. It takes over safety consulting, HR consulting, claims management and DOT compliance so that a client can focus on its own operations. The division says it takes the full business process and culture of each client into account, which it argues maximizes the effect on the client's bottom line.

Experienced staff and advocacy

The division credits its results to experienced consultants on staff and to a long standing commitment to act as an advocate for its clients in risk management. It says it works with partner firms where a need falls outside its own range.
