Free clinical evidence search for licensed clinicians: answers drawn from over 60 million papers and guidelines with linked citations; the company reports 800,000 clinicians in 190 countries.
Vera Health is a clinical decision-support search engine for doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other licensed clinicians. A clinician types a question and Vera searches the medical literature, ranks what it finds, and writes a short answer in which each key statement links back to its source. The company is Veracity-Health, Inc., trading as Vera Health.
Vera describes three steps behind each answer. It retrieves sources from more than 60 million peer-reviewed papers, clinical guidelines, drug references, trials and protocols. It then grades them, weighing study type, recency, authority, patient population and clinical relevance, so that a randomised trial or meta-analysis outranks a case report. Finally it refines the answer to the context of the question, such as specialty, patient profile, local guidance and the kind of decision involved. The company contrasts this with assistants that write advice first and look for citations afterwards.
The product also includes medical calculators, drug references and clinical trial matching, where a patient profile is checked against recruitment criteria. Users can highlight text to ask follow-up questions. The company says it publishes research on how it evaluates answers, including blind grading of real point-of-care questions.
Vera is for licensed clinicians and trainees. It is free for them: they sign up with professional credentials for unlimited searches. The site lists an international advisory council of practising physicians and academics across emergency medicine, oncology, cardiology, radiology oncology and other fields, and reports adoption in several European countries including Italy.
