Aclif

Aclif builds command-line tools for AI agents, and its argument is about what a tool integration costs before it is used. An MCP server publishes a fixed list of tools, and that list occupies the context window on every turn whether the agent touches it or not. Aclif inverts the arrangement: commands are discoverable but their definitions load only when an agent asks for one, so the standing cost of connecting to many services is close to nothing. The second half of the design is naming — one grammar across providers, with canonical names so the same record is reached by the same name whatever platform it lives on, rather than each integration inventing its own vocabulary. The project is MIT licensed, published by Prompt One, Inc., with the source on GitHub and contributions accepted; the version available at the time of this listing was 1.3.0. No price is published, and as an MIT-licensed tool none is expected. It was announced on Hacker News on 18 September 2026.
