Kimi K3 is Moonshot AI's flagship, launched 16 July 2026 as a 2.8-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model with 104 billion active parameters and a 1,048,576-token context window. Moonshot published the full weights on 27 July 2026, making it the largest open-weight model available for public download. The licence is bespoke — the Kimi K3 License — so it is open-weight but NOT OSI open source, a distinction that matters for anyone planning to redistribute or build a commercial product on top of it.
