Fifteen employment rule changes in nine countries this autumn
Nine of the fifteen tighten duties and six ease terms. Eleven carry a calendar date, the first on 30 October, and Singapore’s rule is not…
Anthropic’s small, fast model, released 7 October 2026 on its API and the AWS, Google Cloud and Azure platforms: $0.10 in and $0.50 out per million tokens for prompts up to 100,000 tokens, higher above that.
Not yet independently verified. Read on Anthropic’s own announcement and model documentation; dated reports from other outlets on 7 and 8 October were seen but are not cited here. The benchmark results in the announcement are Anthropic’s own, so no score is stored. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.
Claude Haiku 5.5 is the smallest and fastest model in Anthropic’s Claude 5.5 generation, released on 7 October 2026 and available through Anthropic’s own API under the identifier claude-haiku-5-5 and on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. Anthropic positions it for high-volume, speed-sensitive work such as live customer support and browser use. Its pricing depends on prompt length: $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for prompts of up to 100,000 tokens, and $0.50 and $2.50 above that, with cache reads at $0.01 and $0.05 and cache writes at $0.125 and $0.625. Anthropic says it costs around 75% less to run than Haiku 4.5, whose list prices were $1 in and $5 out. Its documentation gives a context window of one million tokens with text and image input. In the same announcement Anthropic halved the price of cache reads on Claude Sonnet 5.5, from $0.20 to $0.10 per million tokens. Teams already on Haiku 4.5 should test whether their typical prompt length stays under the 100,000-token threshold, since that is where the price steps up fivefold. The performance comparisons in the announcement are Anthropic’s own, so no score is stored here.
