Dennis G Phillips spent over 35 years at the Internal Revenue Service prior to his retirement in 2003 His experience at the agency enables him to successfully represent clients before the IRS and a variety of California state regulatory bodies He also serves as an instructor at the University of California Riverside Extension His ability to clearly communicate complex tax and accounting concepts in the classroom extends to his work here

Mr Phillips retired from the IRS in January of 2003 He left the Service with more than 35 years of service He had been an Appeals Team Manager with the Internal Revenue Service He spent 25 years with the Appeals Office As an Appeals Team Manager, he was required to be well versed in the rules of evidence, Federal tax law and Internal Revenue Service regulations and procedures Mr Phillips excelled in this position with annual awards, including the distinguished National Appeals Manager of the Year award in 2002 During his time with the IRS, Mr Phillips headed several task forces in the development of Appeals, continuing education at the national level He was a regular speaker at the IRS Nationwide Tax Forums At the Tax Forums Mr Phillips made presentations on Collection Due Process and how to Appeal tax audits He has been a speaker at numerous seminars including those for the Orange County Bar Association, AICPA and local Enrolled Agent societies Mr Phillips was an instructor at University of California, Riverside, Extension He has been an instructor at UCR for more than 30 years He has received several awards from UCR Extension

Our beloved Dennis G Phillips was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 He fought a valiant battle and passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family It was Dennis’ wish that his firm continue operating with long-time colleague, Enrolled Agent, Lumi S Mora, as principal

Lumi became an Enrolled Agent in 2013 and along with Mr Phillips was an Instructor at the University of California, Riverside, Extension, and the University of Redlands She has experience with representing taxpayers before the IRS, the Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Employment Development Department, (EDD), and the Board of Equalization, (BOE) Lumi has a bachelor’s degree in International Transactions and a Master’s Degree in Foreign Trade Since 2007 she worked with Mr Phillips and she specializes in all areas of tax

By keeping the business name Dennis G Phillips and Associates Inc , she wants to continue his legacy and what the business represents The name of the business represents Mr Phillips, and his knowledge and all what he did for his clients Dennis had a good heart and helped a lot of people Dennis will continue be remembered every time the clients will say his name
