About Kennel

Not yet independently verified. The launch date rests on the maker’s own Show HN post of 2 October 2026; no independent report was found. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

Kennel is a free, on-demand security check for container images made by Blueshoe, a cloud-native consultancy based in Munich, Germany, and presented on Hacker News on 2 October 2026. Given an image, it generates a CycloneDX software bill of materials, choosing SBOM generators to suit the languages and package managers it detects, matches the packages against Google’s Open Source Vulnerabilities (OSV) database with remediation paths, and looks up end-of-life and support dates for the components. It also reconstructs the image’s build history from its layers. Results come as an interactive report, a shareable link or a PDF. The service is free with no login; Blueshoe says images are processed in memory in German data centres, not stored, and not used to train AI models.
