About Different Projects Ltd.

Tools for tackling climate change

We helped Business in the Community launch the web presence for the Mayday Network - the UK’s largest network of businesses committed to taking action on climate change
The core objective of the Mayday website is to mobilise UK businesses large and small to provide interactive tools, advice and community/collaboration tools to help them reduce their carbon footprint

Phone Advisor is an in-store self-service tablet app for Orange retail shops across Europe and Africa
Customers answer a few questions about their lifestyle, phone usage and preferences and the algorithm returns personalised phone and wearables recommendations that they can demo in-store
Our work involved pairing with the Phone Advisor product manager to define product strategy through to final UI and included several iterations of sketching, wireframing, and clickable prototypes tested with Orange's international user panel for feedback

ShowHows is our first product - an instructional publishing tool for businesses and organisations that lets them easily create and publish beautiful, step-by-step visual instructions, how-tos or tutorials for their users
ShowHows guides are web-based, look great on any device and they can be embedded on any site or blog

Abbott, the global healthcare giant, asked us to completely redesign an existing legacy mentoring app designed for US employees into a modern, global web-based app that would connect and match mentors and mentees to improve knowledge sharing and career development across the company of 70,000 people in 150 countries worldwide
We started by running a workshop with key executives and stakeholders where together we identified the problems and opportunities, drafted proto-personas of representative users and agreed the hypotheses we were going to test with our 'minimum viable product'
We then completed interviews with users around the world to gain valuable insights and feedback into how mentorship works at Abbott
Taking those insights, we developed a minimum viable product starting with sketches, iterating through higher-fidelity wireframes we could put in front of users, and finally building a functional responsive HTML prototype (image above) for further testing and feedback with real users

We designed the user experience and interface for Toptable's iPhone app and mobile website (since acquired by OpenTable) - bringing Toptable's restaurant booking experience to mobile users for the first time
The app let Toptable users browse nearby restaurants, book tables, and even calculate tips and select wines
The app was downloaded over 100,000 times in the first two weeks after launch

We designed and built a complete volunteering app for Orange employees – allowing them to find, register for and book volunteering dates with Orange-supported charities nationwide and then create an interactive diary of their experience to share with the company

Working directly with the product owner we defined the requirements, developed and refined the user journeys, business rules and application logic, and then produced several iterations of prototypes leading to final interface designs and a fully featured web app made available to 12,000 UK employees

Orange Employee Intranet UX

Working closely with Orange, we conducted a strategic overhaul of their UK intranet's information architecture and overall user experience with the aim of making it a more social experience for employees
Using participative techniques including workshops, interviews, and card sorts we devised a new unified information architecture which rationalised the diverse content and simplified user journeys to key content, tasks and features for the internal audience of 15,000 employees
The resulting intranet (rebranded EE after Orange and T-Mobile joined forces) was named a Top 10 Global Intranet in the Nielsen/Norman Group's 2012 Intranet Annual

Future Leaders Training platform

Future Leaders is an education charity from Ark (Absolute Return for Kids) which trains aspiring leaders to lead challenging schools across the UK
They wanted to create an online training hub where aspiring school leaders participating in their programmes could come to enhance their real-world training with articles, videos, blogs, case studies, and online discussions with their peers and mentors
We created a simple and elegant UX and information architecture for the site including wireframes of the key user journeys through the varied content types and training modules
Then we created a compelling visual and user interface design to establish the feeling of a vibrant hub that people want to come back to again and again as a valuable resource

Just-Eat UX & UI Redesign

Just-Eat are building the world's leading online takeaway ordering service and brand - giving independent restaurants around the world the power to take online orders from customers through a single e-commerce platform
We were asked to overhaul and improve the site's user experience and user interface following their Series A investment
We also designed the UI for their first iPhone app and designed and built responsive templates for their co-branded restaurant website product
