The scheduling service from Shift Administrators LLC is built for physician and provider groups, and it calls its platform award-winning and its support team first in the industry. Its aim is to simplify the creation of schedules and the running of a department, and the vendor says it can generate optimized schedules from fully customizable rules and individual requests in a fraction of the time it takes to build the same schedule manually. It describes the engine as an advanced scheduling algorithm sitting behind a simple interface.

What a scheduler can do with it

The vendor's argument is that fairness is difficult to achieve by hand when a group has many people with different preferences. The generator is meant to produce a schedule that is equitable for all users, even when the arrangement is complicated, for example when a provider works at several locations during the same month. Rules can be set both for the whole group and for individual physicians, and the vendor says its programmers can design a way of handling unusual patterns.

Tracking hours and pay

Administrators get a statistics package that counts hours worked, night shifts, weekends, holidays and pay, among other things, with custom reports and exports available for other needs. A built-in payroll module handles hourly rates and flat amounts that can be defined down to the user, the facility and the shift, and it supports pay differentials and adjustments. Where a group uses an outside payroll provider, the vendor says its engineers can build an interface to that provider.

A mobile app and a communication hub

A native mobile app, available from the App Store and Google Play, was designed for providers with little spare time, so speed and ease of use came first. It lets people view schedules and statistics, make shift changes, email or text colleagues, clock in and out, and submit custom hours. The vendor said that submitting schedule requests and further administrator functions would follow in later versions. The service also acts as a communication center, with document management and email and text messaging alongside the schedule.

The material points to practices in emergency medicine and related fields, among them groups that span several facilities. One of its headings describes the product as best in KLAS for physician scheduling, which is the vendor's own claim. The current site shows only a login page.
