Desert Ant Labs

Desert Ant Labs is a European lab building small on-device models that each do one job, across speech, text and vision, rather than one general model that does everything. Its first release covers transcription, audio enhancement, PII detection and redaction, language identification, video highlights, filler-word detection and word-level timestamp alignment, with text extraction, toxicity detection and content moderation in beta. Models ship as drop-in SDKs for iOS, Android, Web and Node, with open weights on Hugging Face. Each is free up to 100,000 monthly active devices per SDK with unlimited inference per user. The company reports its transcription model is several times faster than a widely used open alternative on an iPhone, with nothing leaving the device; that is a vendor figure.
