Pivot

Open-source real-time analytics database that queries Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake data in object storage over the Postgres protocol; early development, no price listed.

Launched 2026-10-08

About this launch

Pivot is an analytics database written in Rust that runs low-latency, high-concurrency queries directly on open data formats, namely external Apache Iceberg tables and its own managed Delta Lake tables, so data does not have to be copied into a separate real-time engine. It can run as a shared server that SQL clients and BI tools reach over the Postgres protocol, or as a local command-line mode for ad hoc queries and AI agents, scaling to zero when idle because object storage holds all state. The maker publishes benchmark results against ClickHouse, DuckDB, DataFusion and Spark with the harness in its repository, and the code is released under the Apache 2.0 licence. The site is run by Epsio Labs, and no location is stated. The documentation says Pivot is in early development and not production ready, and no pricing page exists. The maker presented it on Hacker News on 8 October 2026. Buyers should treat the speed figures as the maker’s own and wait for production readiness before relying on it.

Not yet independently verified: The launch date rests on the maker’s own Show HN post of 8 October 2026. Every detail comes from the maker’s own site, documentation and open-source repository, which says the engine is in early development and not production ready; no independent report or price was found. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.
