About Serif

Serif is the developer of Affinity, a family of professional creative software for design, photo editing and page layout. The old affinity.serif.com address now redirects to affinity.studio, where the product is presented as Affinity by Canva.

What it offers

The current Affinity release brings vector design, pixel-based photo editing and page layout together in a single application, alongside optional Canva AI tools. It uses its own .af file format and imports PSD, AI, IDML and DWG files while keeping their layers and structure, which helps teams moving work from other design software.

  • Runs on Mac, including native support for Apple silicon and Intel machines
  • Runs on Windows, optimised for mid-range machines with GPU support
  • An iPad version is listed as coming soon

Pricing and licensing

As listed on its site in September 2026, Affinity is free for individuals. Canva's premium plans unlock the optional AI features, and organisations and schools can obtain enterprise and education licensing through Canva. Owners of the earlier Affinity V2 apps can still reach their accounts through the Serif store.
