Harness buys Cosmos and Auggie CLI assets from Augment Code
Augment Code is selling select assets rather than the whole company, and Harness says customers can keep their preferred coding tools. No…
San Francisco software delivery platform founded in 2017, covering CI/CD, GitOps, infrastructure as code, testing, feature flags, chaos engineering, cloud cost management and supply chain security for enterprise engineering teams.
Harness sells a software delivery platform that it describes as AI-native. The product range spans the work between a commit and a running service: continuous integration and delivery, GitOps, infrastructure as code, testing, feature flags and chaos engineering, alongside cloud cost management for FinOps teams, DevSecOps tooling and software supply chain security. The company also runs an application security business.
The platform is aimed at enterprise engineering and platform teams that want governed, reusable pipelines rather than thousands of hand-written scripts. Customer stories on its site give the flavour: Morningstar says 50 templates replaced 36,000 scripted pipelines, and Citi reports release times falling from days to seven minutes across 20,000 engineers. These are the customers' figures as Harness publishes them.
Harness was founded in San Francisco in 2017 by Jyoti Bansal, its chief executive, and Rishi Singh, the founding chief technology officer, and was spun out of the BIG Labs startup studio. It says it has more than 1,200 employees in 23 offices on five continents, more than 1,000 enterprise customers and 570 million dollars in total funding, with backers including Goldman Sachs Alternatives, GV, Battery Ventures, IVP, Menlo Ventures and ServiceNow Ventures.
In October 2026 Harness bought the Cosmos multi-agent coding platform, the Auggie command-line tools and the Code Context Engine from Augment Code, bringing code generation into the same platform. Pricing is not published on the pages read.
