Farmnote, registered in Japanese as Farmnote Inc., is a livestock technology company based in Obihiro, Hokkaido. It makes products for cattle farms that combine a wearable device, herd records in the cloud and analysis services, with the aim of helping farmers spot problems in individual animals earlier.
Farmnote Color is a device worn by a cow that detects heat (estrus), reduced activity, difficulty standing and signs of calving. Farmnote Cloud is a herd management system for keeping records, filtering animals by conditions the farmer sets and generating documents. Farmnote Compass analyses the current state of a farm to help identify problems, and Farmnote Gene is a genetic testing service for cattle that suggests next steps from the results.
The company also runs a genetics service that supplies frozen Wagyu embryos, and presents Nakashibetsu Farm, a dairy farm operated on its Dairy Platform, as a model of combining profitability and sustainability through digital tools.
Its customers are dairy and beef cattle farms, and the products are written for the people who work with the animals every day. The case studies on its site range from farms with fewer than 100 head to farms with more than 300.
