ClickHouse is an open-source column-oriented database management system for real-time analytical reports, run self-managed or as ClickHouse Cloud.
ClickHouse is a column-oriented database management system built for real-time analytical reports, aimed at teams that run high-volume analytical queries. Work on it began in 2009, and it was released as an open-source project under the Apache 2 licence in 2016. It is developed by ClickHouse, the company, together with the open-source community, and the source code is licensed under Apache-2.0. It can be run self-managed on your own infrastructure or bought as ClickHouse Cloud, a managed service available on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. The cloud service has a free trial of $300 in credits over 30 days, with no card required. After the trial, billing is usage-based across Basic, Scale and Enterprise plans, with compute charged per unit-hour and storage charged per terabyte. The latest stable release listed is v26.9.8.3-stable, dated 1 October 2026. ClickHouse also serves as a time-series store alongside its main analytical role. Buyers choosing between the self-managed and cloud routes should compare the open-source release with the plan structure on the vendor's pricing page, since only the managed service is billed. No licence changes, end-of-support dates or closed product lines were found for the project.
