Appscale

AppScale makes cloud software that behaves like an AWS region inside a customer's own data centre. The platform, based on the Eucalyptus technology, lets companies run AWS workloads on their own hardware without changing code.

What AppScale offers

• AWS-compatible cloud — supports core AWS APIs and can be used through the standard AWS command line.
• Hybrid cloud strategy — keeps chosen workloads outside the public cloud while staying interoperable with AWS.
• Data control — customers decide where their data sits and can build isolated, air-gapped environments.
• Workload analysis — assessment and cluster sizing before migration.
• Partner programme — open to colocation, managed service and bare-metal providers.

Who it works with

Enterprises that have workloads unsuited to the public cloud, plus infrastructure providers who resell the platform. The company also says it won a Netflix-run challenge for its AWS compatibility.
