Dr Terri Jett is Faculty Director of the Butler University Hub for Black Affairs and Community Engagement and Senior Advisor to the President She has served as a guest speaker for SKL and is an LI program participant

SKL gave me the confidence to pursue my unique purpose as a leader Through my SKL journey, I was given an intellectually challenging and robust understanding of what authentic community leadership looks like across Central Indiana I participated in conversations and activities that helped shape how I think about leading and empowering change

The eviction discussion questions enabled listeners to hear the progression from why we are experiencing a housing issue, to what is currently happening and what are some of the steps we can take to help remedy the crisis The program structure was well thought out

This discussion series presented by Leadership Indianapolis was very informative It's always nice to hear from individuals with lived experience Additionally, hearing the success stories that include pitfalls and barriers and how they worked to overcome and address them on a systematic level was inspiring

I appreciated the curated conversation surrounding the book we read/listened to - it was thoughtful and also challenged my thinking, taking it further than if I had just read the book I appreciated learning more about how the issues in the book related directly to our community and the encouragement to think about my role in helping to raise awareness/address this issue

I've lived in Indy for almost 20 years yet I don't know much of our history I loved the idea of the walking tour coupled with the chance to hear/learn more from the panel about how policy, race, redevelopment have all played out in this one specific, historical area - and how the same factors are playing out today

I will definitely share the experience I had and encourage others to attend future events with Leadership Indianapolis as well The interactions were refreshing, and I enjoyed engaging with others and listening to their viewpoints

As an entrepreneur and community developer, I'll be referring to my notes as I continue to develop the community

In my consulting work I will use what I learned to educate my clients and engage them in anti-racist work

The Get On Board workshop series offered a variety of topics key for any board service

The Stanley K Lacy Executive Leadership Series allowed me to connect and learn from an array of areas/industries to break down silos for the betterment of our neighborhoods
