AI video analytics that turns a worksite’s existing CCTV into real-time safety monitoring for heavy industry.
viAct is an AI company that builds computer vision software for workplace safety in high-risk industries. Founded in Hong Kong in 2016, with an entity in Singapore (viAct Technology Pte Ltd), viAct helps environment, health and safety (EHS) teams detect hazards and non-compliance as they happen, instead of finding them during periodic inspections or after an incident.
Its core idea is to make cameras a site already has more useful. CCTV can record everything on a worksite, but someone has to watch the footage to act on it. viAct adds an AI layer to existing IP cameras, connecting through standard RTSP streams and supporting ONVIF-compliant brands such as Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Bosch and Hanwha. Sites usually don’t need new cameras.
The platform includes more than 200 pre-built AI detection modules covering safety, security, productivity and operations. They detect missing PPE, workers near open edges or without harnesses, unauthorised entry into danger zones, unsafe proximity between people and forklifts or heavy machinery, workers under suspended loads, confined-space risks, fire and smoke, poor housekeeping and ergonomic hazards. viAct calls its approach “scenario-based” vision intelligence. Rather than flagging every isolated detection, the system looks at context such as location, activity, proximity and nearby hazards. The aim is fewer irrelevant alerts and more alerts that need action.
When a risk is detected, viAct can trigger on-site speaker alarms and send image or video evidence to supervisors through WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email and its mobile app. All events feed into viHUB, the company’s central dashboard, which shows safety scores, site scorecards, trend reports and risk heatmaps. Organisations running several sites can compare performance and see where risks keep recurring. viGENT, viAct’s generative AI assistant, writes safety reports automatically and lets teams ask questions about their safety data in plain language.
viAct also covers what cameras can’t see. Its wearables (smart helmets and smart watches) track lone and remote workers and monitor heat stress. Its edge AI hardware includes drones, LiDAR sensors, mobile edge units, crane and hoist monitoring, machinery safety systems and patrol robots. Other software includes a digital permit-to-work system, Hong Kong’s Smart Site Safety System (4S) and a Digital Works Supervision System (DWSS). Deployment can be cloud, edge, hybrid or on-premise. Privacy features include automated face masking, encryption and restricted data access.
viAct serves construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, ports, logistics and warehousing, chemical plants and data centres, with a strong presence in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and the Middle East.
