Builds metal additive manufacturing systems that deposit metal powder for aerospace, automotive and medical implant makers.
InssTek, Inc. is a Daejeon company that makes directed energy deposition metal additive manufacturing systems. Its machines build metal parts, support new alloy research and coat medical implants. The company is based at Sinseung-ro in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and the site says more than 30 of its machines were installed in the past three years.
The all-in-one system is aimed at parts manufacturing, the alloy system at materials research and the implant system at porous coatings for orthopedic implants.
The company's process is called DMT, short for Directed Metal Tooling, which ASTM classes as a directed energy deposition method. Its clogged vibration method powder feeder is described as giving a steady feed rate, a long working life and a wide feed range. Integrated AM CAM software plans toolpaths, process settings and build strategies for multi-axis and multi-material work. The site shows a turbine disk repair example in Inconel 939 and reports AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certification. The company also publishes a DED alloy research newsletter, and its site presents alloy work as a quicker path to high-entropy alloys and similar advanced materials.
