SPEE3D prints dense metal parts on site using cold spray additive manufacturing, with a transportable unit for defence, maritime and industrial users.
SPEE3D is a metal printing company based in Melbourne, Victoria. It makes cold spray additive manufacturing (CSAM) systems that produce metal parts on site and on demand, in hours or days rather than weeks or months. The company says its open system works with non-weldable, high temperature alloys and does not need dangerous gases or complex infrastructure.
SPEE3D describes its printers by build size. Its larger systems can make metal parts up to 40 kg and around one metre in diameter, while smaller units handle parts up to about 5 kg and roughly 350 mm across. The stated production rate is up to 100 g per minute. The Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit is a transportable system that can be moved to the point of need, so teams can print, post-process and test parts in the field.
The process produces cast-equivalent metal parts with reliable material properties, and the company says customers can expand in-house capabilities and improve part performance. The site also offers a check on whether one of its printers suits a particular part.
