Conscious Venture Lab

Conscious Venture Lab operates through the Novella Center for Entrepreneurship, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to expanding access to entrepreneurship. Novella Center draws on more than a decade of work at Conscious Venture Lab to build initiatives that encourage entrepreneurs to reconsider how business connects with the wider society it serves. The centre is named after the founder's mother, who grew up in segregated Baltimore in the 1940s and taught him about the importance of justice in its legal, social and economic forms. Today, the organisation says it exposes underestimated entrepreneurs, early-stage founders and chief executives to stakeholder theory and related principles, aiming to help them build companies that consider a wider set of stakeholders than shareholders alone, in the belief that this leads to more prosperous and equitable outcomes for everyone involved.
